[AdSense] How to fix "Site down or unavailable" issue

Google Adsense - How to fix "site down or unavailable" issue

 How to fix "Site down or unavailable"

1. Check the location of the Adsense’s code

  • AdSense code must be pasted inside <head></head> tags of your site (basic step)
<html>
<head>
<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-1234567890123456" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
<title>HTML 페이지 예</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

2. Check if the domain is connected to the site as the main domain

  • Put robots.txt in your site's root folder
  • Should not be linked to a subdomain(ex. xxx.myDomain.com)

Create robots.txt

3. Make sure your site's basic information is properly included

  • Make sure your site has a title and description

4. Check if robots.txt exists in Google Search Console

  •  In Google Search Console - URL Inspection, check if an error occurs when running TEST LIVE URL from https://myDomain.com/robots.txt

Go Google Search Console

Google Search Console - 1
Google Search Console - URL Inspection - TEST LIVE URL Execution
Google Search Console - 2
Google Search Console - URL Inspection - TEST LIVE URL Results

  • If an error occurs by continuously executing the TEST LIVE URL, change the TTL value in the field where the google-site-verification code is entered to 3600 on the domain registration site and re-run TEST LIVE URL
    (increases the response time required to communicate with robots.txt while the Google search engine is indexing)

Domain Record Settings

5. Make sure that 20 days have passed since the domain or site was created (Google Search Engine Indexing usually takes 20-30 days)

  • If you receive an indexing error correction completion email after registering a domain in Google Search Console,  approval rejection due to “Site down or unavailable” from Google AdSense no longer occurs.
